April 18, 2024

Kid’s motorcycles are an excellent outdoor toy that will keep your child busy for hours. They provide children with an authentic riding experience and help develop their cognitive skills like space orientation and hand-leg movement.

But, choosing the right motorcycle for your kid can be a bit difficult because of the vast choice of ride-on electric bikes for kids on the market. To make sure you choose the right motorcycle for your kid, you should take into account several things.

1.   Your Kid’s Age

Motorcycles for kids come in different sizes, for different age groups. Some are suitable for kids 3-6, others for kids 4-8, and others for older kids and teens. To make sure you choose the right size motorbike, consider your kid’s age and then look at the models available for its age group.

2.   Your Kid’s Weight

Motorbikes are for kids also differ in the weight they support. Some models support kids from 44lb to 66lb, others for kids from 66lb to 88lb, and the models for older kids and teens support greater weight.

To make sure you choose the right model for your kid, consider their weight and height. They need to be able to sit on the saddle without any problem, touch the ground with their feet, and easily control the bike.

3.   Battery Voltage

There are three main voltages on motorbikes: 6V, 12V, and 24V. The higher the voltage, the bigger and faster the motorbike is. Since the battery voltage determines the size of the motorcycle, consider your kid’s age, height, and weight to choose a model with proper voltage.

4.   Engine Capacity

The engine capacity determines the motorcycle’s power. For smaller kids, it’s best to choose models with 50cc power whereas, for older kids of up to 12 years, a 70cc engine would be the right choice.

5.   The Wheels

When it comes to the wheels, you need to consider their material, size, and number. Kids’ motorcycle wheels can be made of sturdy plastic or a  resistant material, with some models featuring EVA rubber wheels that are resistant to punctures. They can also be smaller, for easier maneuvring, or large which are perfect for bumpy roads. Last, there can be three wheels or two wheels plus training wheels, or just two wheels.

6.   The Seat

Motorcycle seats can be made of hard plastic or padded with leather for greater comfort. There can also be motorcycles with one and two seats for riding in pairs. Consider these two factors to choose a model that best suits your kid.

7.   Price

Last but not least, you should also consider the motorcycle’s price. Some models are more affordable and cost less than $100 whereas others go up to $500 and over, depending on the model and its features.

Is Your Child Ready for an Outdoor Adventure?

When choosing a motorcycle you need to make sure your child feels comfortable riding it. If it’s not, there’s no point in purchasing a motorbike. On the other hand, if you see they feel superb while on a motorcycle, find the most suitable one based on the abovementioned factors and send your kid into new outdoor adventures.
